robbie formerly (ymotg.com) recommended me Jay Reatard yesterday, he sounds kinda like ummmm , devo, talking heads, delta 5, violent femmes, sonic youth, B52's, The Specials, The Cure, Beck etc etc etc an whole heap of old new wave & indie stuff, an the crazy thing about it is, for the most part, it appears to bizarrely capture those sounds an some , but you be the judge of that.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that life is not easy. It doesn’t make sense, it’s not fair, it has no idea what a plan is.

I can remember reading a book 10 years ago maybe, called Quarter life crisis, it mostly sucked, actually it really sucked. Basically a collection of case studies of semi well off kids who are depressed coming out of college, who really cant do shit to help themselves, i only got to about page 2, then put the book down because it was all irrelevant. The bottom list is a collection of symptoms of QLC i stumbled across over at tumblr somewhere... okay ima go thru this

1. Feeling like you’re not doing well enough - i only felt like this once in my life an that was a long time ago, an it didnt relate to work or others opinions
2. Frustration & disillusionment with the working world - sure i get lazy with it, but doesnt everyone
3. Feeling insecure about what you’re doing, where you’re going & what your plans are - Hell No
4. Anxiety over close relationships - huh
5. Feeling extremely bored with your social life - sometimes i do , but i cant complain when i choose to sit inside an play video games n stuff all day
6. Nostalgia for teenage years, high school or university - Jesus, id rather be skinned with a spoon an drowned in petrol, then even remotely have to think about those times. infact most ppl i went to school with suck the hot hard one , im sure of it ...
7. Feeling a desperate need to "settle down" , like buy a house - check , but not really
8. Conversely, wanting to 'escape' to the real world - going to work , paying bills, dealing with shit is the real world
9. Financial stress or confusion - not really, however rates, body corp etc really really suck
10. Intense loneliness - i know alone, we are good mates
11. Feeling that everyone is doing better than you - Hell No
12. Terror at the concept of getting "old" - getting old means getting closer to retirement, which means my log cabin in the woods .. lets go now
13. Wondering "Is that all there is?" - sometimes i feel like this , but it was only once when i finished fable on the 360, way way wa to short
14. A vague feeling of apathy, mixed with horror, panic & depression - i feel these things when i see neighbours, home & away, friends etc on TV

'Amazon (NSDQ: AMZN) has finally done what many have been asking it since the time the company bought IMDB: it has enabled video on the film and TV database/info site. The company says users can now watch 6,000 full-length feature films and TV episodes for free on IMDb.com’s video section. Would be interesting to figure out how many of the videos from Amazon VOD service on being ported over to IMDB...guess would be a low figure, as it is likely IMDB video would be used more as a promotional tool. It even says so in the release: The rotating video content is provided by CBS, Hulu, Sony Pictures Television and about 500 indie filmmakers. The content includes shows like “24”, “The Office” (both from Hulu), “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Star Trek”, and movies such as “Fever Pitch”, “Bring it On” and others. ' - more here

***update - second ad released, okay this is getting more bizarre...



First up its dissapointing that the mainline press brands this ad a dud, which is easy to understand becuase it asks more then it delivers.

'But if you didnt understand, rest assured - nobody did. It's a teaser ad- the first commercial in a larger campaign, often "designed mainly to attract attention, and [will be] followed by other ads that explain the true message of the marketing effort."'

I asked around a few friends yesterday there opinion, all bar one said for the most part said it was stupid an lame .. for the record these people are mac users or wanna be mac users... I ring my other friend who owns a mainstream computing store, ask him his opinion ... unfortunatly he was unavailable for comment for one he cared none and two he was deep inside some FPS shooter on his pc, an a box of crisps...but most ppl for the most part couldnt undertsand this was a teaser .. just like a movie has a trailor, regardless of message ..

Spore review so far - i have evolved from my spore/microbe/creation/race/existance/everything, slash woteva, we so rule to the above character... click images for higher res.. im only up to the civilisation stage i am in space now an the galaxy is huge .. massive ... enormous ... crazy endless big .. here's what i thinks so far

Spore reminds me of? kinda World of Warcraft meets black & white II meets warcraft frozen throne meets the sims meets starcraft kinda...
Is it mind blowing unique? Not really, but it seems simple enough for casual gamers to get involved an the core guys seem to be taken care of as well...
Refreshing? ahuh, heaps fun...
Totally different? different but not totally
Best feature? create your own everything
Worst feature? create your own everything
Hard? im playing on medium, i havnt got stuck yet an im generally hopeless...
Likes? the whole evolution thing
Dislikes? seems way easier to just blow up shit an take over countries/species rather then make peace an join forces with possible allies
Do you think itll pull EA out of the rubble? ill definatly be taking it up an going online , but from what i seen... so far ... im not so sure, who knows maybe im not into enough yet

Will Spore be the biggest thing to hit the gaming world since Doom? its hard to think anything could topple WoW?

Haven't really felt like blogging posting the last week or so .. mainly cause i been in a serious funk about what i was up against at work.. with media sites to build, 120+ pages, including images, audio, video, migrating, producing, developing, publishing, proofing, repeat..

Thinking i had 4 weeks to work with.. nope, 4 days .. so this has been where my energies have been ... now with the sites launched an viewable to the masses .. like literally now, like just now .. i feel allot happier, lighter an funnier, if you can believe that ..

so im drinken beer an i cant remember the last time beer tasted so good .. beer.. why does it only taste good after serious work .. real work .. head down type stuff ... otherwise its generally like razor blades, to me anyways .. but this is not a 'when beer taste better' type post .. its about .. i feel like postin so here i am ...

id share the sites but I've always had a habit of keeping my real work separate from here,. so I'm not about to change .. so those who know, know where to look i guess...
